Shark Genius wont make your kids less messy, but it helps!

When we first bought our house, I was foolishly under the impression that we had new carpet. It looked nice and clean until we moved our kids in, which we had to do, and from that point on it has been in some state of disaster since. The day I realized that we didn’t actually have new carpeting like I had thought was the day that I welcomed my Shark Powered Lift Away into our home. It took off like a powerful piece of machinery and began sucking dirt from our rug that I am certain was residing there since Reagan was inaugurated. Dog food, cereal, basic crumbs and confetti – nothing is a match for this puppy. So despite living in a constant state of mess, as one with children is so familiar, having the Shark in my life at least makes me keep my sanity. Sure, there freakin’ crayon marks on the wall and dirty ass socks in the hall way – guess what there isn’t – chunks of tracked in mud on my living room rug. And for that I thank Shark.

Adulting is shitty. Parenting is hard. Joy is brought into my life when the Whole Assed Honey arrives home and the kids stick to him like the whatever-fuck-I-stepped-in sticks to the bottom of my sockless foot. When the floor is clear of those unidentifiable things that could stick to me my love for Shark knows very little boundaries. I was given the opportunity to add the Shark Genius Steam Pocket Mop to my arsenal and I am here to tell you how much simpler life has gotten.

As a mom of a young boy the bathroom floor is sometimes frightening. I’m sure you can relate. The Little Mean Pink One has been potty trained for a few months but we aren’t without accidents. One day I went into the bathroom and discovered Picasso had visited and his preferred medium was freakin’ toothpaste. Toothpaste EVERYWHERE. You’d think he would know better, being 6.

The Shark Genius doesn’t even get put away, it just kind of lives in the kidiots bathroom, waiting for its next assignment. It’s a true soldier in the war on filth at my place. I love it.

I was so stoked that right out of the box it is ready to go. Not only is it the easiest damn thing to assemble, like all Shark products, click-n-go, but it matches my vacuum! It’s the little wins that really make me feel like I have my shit together. I may have fed the kidiots a cold Hot-dog for breakfast but at least my steam mop matches my vacuum. My shit is sorted. Oh, and to make life just a little better, shark made the water fill cup attach to the mop so you'll not be losing that little booger!

Let me tell you all the amazing reasons that you need a Shark Genius Hard Floor cleaning system in your arsenal, there are many, trust me. And once you’re convinced, grab one here.

Germs are everywhere

So, as luck would have it, the day after my Shark Genius arrived my oldest was home from school with a stomach thing. There are enough people in our house that when it goes around, we can stay sick for weeks. Have you ever Lysol’d another human person? I have. You know the cool part about steam, it kills germs and disinfects without any harsh chemicals. After someone gets sick, you undoubtedly wipe all the surfaces, but do you really do the floor? It’s so super easy to whip out the Shark Genius and blast away all the germs and dirt. And the mop pad is washable and its hands free to pop that puppy off into the washer.  The sickness in our house stopped at 1!

Boys and their messes

As you’re probably well aware, kids are gross. If you have boy kids (or any male living in your house) you have this strange deposit of “ew” that accumulates around the toilet. I hate to get down on my hands and knees with a magic eraser and touch that shit to get it gone. I used the Shark Genius. There is this amazing feature that allows for a strong jet of steam to shoot out on the extra yucky spots. You just flip the pad over and BAM. I cleaned around the toilets, baseboards and tub edge without bending over. It was a little miraculous and A LOT impressive.

There is soap scum on your shower

It really baffles me how something that is literally showered in soap and water on the daily can get so freakin’ disgusting. We live in an older home with an older shower pan. It has been known to get a little sketchy with scum build up. While I was using the Shark Genius in the Master Bathroom being really impressed with not having to bend down to clean around the toilet, I was like, ‘hey, shower – you’re next’. I used the Genius on my shower floor and it was fantastic. The steam lifted dirt and stuff out of the crevices that I may have had to get at with a wire brush. Impressive Shark, as usual!

You use your kitchen

I know that I try to keep my kitchen super clean and well organized, but the fact is that I use my kitchen. I cook every day because people are hungry every day, weird. Those hungry people are small, messy, and usually hanging from my belt-loop whining so whatever is in their mouths falls onto the floor and gets trampled into the tile by tiny feet. I have a two year old that think she knows how to chew gum and a six year old that only encourages that nonsense so there has been gum on the kitchen floor numerous times. The Shark Genius Hard Floor Cleaning System can get gum residue off the kitchen floor. I would recommend steam mopping up a whole wad, but the pad can handle the week-old, scraped off remnants no problem! The power of steam is amazing and the quality of Shark is equally awe-striking. There are three levels of steam power that you can select on the Shark Genius depending on the size of your disaster. You can assume mine is always on high.

You don’t like dirt

I like dirt, don’t get me wrong. I don’t like dirt in the house. I love to go outside, get my paws dirty and I even encourage my kids to get dirty! We have a new mud room that the Whole Assed Honey built last year to catch all the muddy boots and stuff. I don’t like dirt tracked everywhere and have no problem yelling at you to take your shoes off in the mud room. The Shark Genius is easy enough to use that I have just delegated steam mopping the mud-room to my six year old. Its building character and its ridding my house of much hated dirt clods.

I adore the Shark brand as everything that I have had of theirs has held up to the hell of our messes, which is saying quite a bit. You can get your own Shark Genius Steam Pocket Mop and start adulating properly for $119.85. You’re welcome.

Your post made me laugh :). I used to have a steam mop but sadly it broke but it did really make a difference with the floors. I have a hand held steamer thingy for doing the oven, bathroom, etc.

This sounds interesting. I’ve never tried a steam mop before, but I often wondered if it has an added value. I will take this in advance when I have kids haha. X – https://esseremoda.nl/baseball-jacket-fringes-striped-top/
